Pian Upe Game Reserve, Uganda’s second-largest at 2,780 km², is located in Eastern Uganda, near Moroto, Soroti, and Mbale. The reserve is known for its wide open savannahs, wildlife such as lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, and antelopes, and over 350 bird species, including the rare Kori Bustard, Heuglin’s Bustard, and Northern Carmine Bee-eater. Pian Upe offers a remote, off-the-beaten-path safari experience, ideal for wildlife lovers, birdwatchers, photographers, and cultural encounters with the Karamojong communities.

Day 1: Travel to Pian Upe Game Reserve
Our professional driver-guide picks you up early in the morning from your hotel or accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe. Travel through Eastern Uganda with a stop for lunch along the way. On arrival at Pian Upe Game Reserve, check in at your lodge or campsite and enjoy an evening game drive to spot wildlife near water points. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day Safari Experience
Enjoy a full day exploring Pian Upe with morning and afternoon game drives. Expect sightings of giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, antelopes like ridbucks, Eland, Roan, and others like civets, Duikers, id-dik, porcupinesand the Rock hyrax.Aardvark and hedgehogs , and predators such as lions and hyenas. cheetahs,and leopards. A guided birdwatching experience offers chances to see rare species like the Kori Bustard and Northern Carmine Bee-eater. Meals and relaxation are enjoyed at the lodge or campsite.
Day 3: Morning Safari – Return Journey
After an optional morning game drive, check out and begin your return journey. Pass through Moroto or Soroti, with optional cultural visits to local villages or markets, before continuing back to Kampala or Entebbe, marking the end of the safari.
