Starting Point: Entebbe
Rwenzori Mountains National Park is located in western Uganda along the Uganda–DR Congo border, about 420 km from Entebbe (6–7 hours’ drive). Known as the “Mountains of the Moon,” the Rwenzoris offer breathtaking scenery, snow-capped peaks, rivers, waterfalls, unique vegetation, and rich birdlife. This short trek is ideal for travelers who want a taste of Rwenzori hiking without attempting the high peaks.
Day 1: Entebbe – Kasese – Rwenzori Mountains
Early morning departure from Entebbe, driving west through Fort Portal with scenic views of tea plantations and rural landscapes. Lunch is taken en route.
Arrive in Kasese in the afternoon and continue to Rwenzori Mountains National Park. On arrival, check in at the lodge near the park. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Rwenzori Nature Walk & Short Hike
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by park rangers. Begin a guided nature walk and short hike on the lower slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains.
The walk takes you through tropical forest and bamboo zones, with chances to see waterfalls, rivers, primates, and bird species. Learn about the unique flora, local culture, and the Rwenzori ecosystem.
Return to the lodge in the afternoon for relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Rwenzori – Entebbe
After breakfast, depart Rwenzori and drive back to Entebbe via Fort Portal. Lunch is taken en route.
Arrive in Entebbe in the evening, marking the end of the safari.
