Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where visitors can encounter wild southern white rhinos in their natural habitat. Situated along the Kampala–Gulu highway and easily accessible from Masindi, this 70 km² protected reserve is a flagship conservation success story managed by Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch and the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Ziwa is more than a rhino-viewing destination; it is a thriving ecosystem that supports a wide variety of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, warthogs, monkeys, and a rich bird population. The sanctuary provides a safe environment for rhinos to breed, grow, and eventually be reintroduced into Uganda’s national parks.
